Results from the North & South Club Championships 2014

Following an action packed weekend of competition, the Northern and Southern Club Champions for 2014 have now been crowned. The North Club Championships took place at Bishop Burton College in East Yorkshire and the South Club Championships were held at The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe in Bedfordshire. Bishop Burton College was also the host venue for the National Para Club Championships.

Combinations from Scotland, the North, Wales and West Midlands contested the North Championships whilst combinations based in the East Midlands, East, South East and South West went to South Championships.

The results were as follows:

NORTH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Sally Mcnaughton from Driffield, North Humberside took victory in the Horse 0.70cm and 0.80cm Championships with her own 9 year-old grey gelding Gunner Mason.

The Horse 0.90cm Championship was won by 22 year-old Sarah Denholm from Whickham, Newcastle Upon Tyne on her own 12 year-old bay gelding Gibside Bugsy Malone.

The win in the Horse 1.00m Championship was taken by 15 year-old James Davison from Heddon-on-the-Wall, Newcastle Upon Tyne and he was on board Aztec Fantasia, a 16 year-old tri-coloured owned by his mother Rachel. 

Rachel Proudley aged 9 from Whitby, North Yorkshire was the winner of Pony 0.70cm Championship with Field Oak Flame, a 10 year-old chestnut gelding owned by her father Paul.

The Pony 0.80cm Championship was won by 13 year-old Charley Smith from Driffield, North Humberside on her mother Joanne’s 8 year-old skewbald gelding Pablo’s Puzzle.

Lucy Van-Hee (16) from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear was crowned Champion in both the Pony 0.90cm and 1.00m Championships on her mother Julie’s 22 year-old chestnut mare Sahara Desert

SOUTH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Horse 0.70cm and 0.90cm Championships were won by 17 year-old Coral Shields from Muston, Nottinghamshire on her mother Mandy’s 8 year old skewbald gelding Geela Lad.

Caitlin Saykal aged 14 from Bayfordbury, Hertfordshire took the win in the Horse 0.80cm Championship with her father Hasan’s skewbald gelding Mr Tomnus.

The Horse 1.00m Championship winner was 16 year-old Annabelle Molyneux from Ely, Cambridgeshire on board her mother Anne’s 11 year-old bay gelding Wammes R.

Coral Shields also enjoyed success in the Pony 0.70cm and 0.90cm Championships, this time on the 9 year-old skewbald gelding Double Trouble I, also owned by her mother Joanne.

Celine Norgate (16) from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire took the title of Pony 0.80cm Champion with her mother Deborah’s 10 year-old grey gelding Lightning Bolt

NATIONAL PARA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Victory in the Grade I Championship was taken by 23 year-old Alex McNamara from Louth, Lincolnshire with his own 5 year-old skewbald gelding Murphy and the Bricks.

Karen Law (53) from Stockport, Cheshire was crowned Grade IV Champion with Michelle Anthony's 8 year-old grey mare Silver Silhouette, more commonly known as Pearl.

The 1.00m Open class was taken by 36 year-old Sarah Wicks from Doncaster, South Yorkshire who was on board her own 6 year-old bay mare Kalika.
