Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Dorset Showground

Competitors were treated to warm September sunshine this weekend at Dorset Showground in Gillingham and many came forward to compete in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds. There were four second rounds held at the following heights - 85cm, 95cm, 1.05m and 1.10m - and each rider was hoping to secure a place for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool on 12 – 17 November.

An exciting fifteen horse jump off unfolded in the 85cm second round with seven going to secure a double clear over Course Designer Clive Phillips’ seven fence track.

They delivered the fastest double clear of the class, returning home clear in 34.72 seconds. The closest challenge came from Claire Chambers and Distant Prospect who bagged their double clear in 35.50 seconds.

Cerys and Apart EA set an unbeatable jump off time of 33.49 seconds and when leaving all of the fences standing, this was enough to give them first place. Kate Ward and Honey Mai finished in second.
