British Showjumping’s Team NAF announced for the Nations Cup at World Equestrian Festival CHIO Aachen

British Showjumping are delighted to announce the team for the CSIO5* Nations Cup at the World Equestrian Festival at CHIO Aachen (GER) following an invitation from the organisers. The competition takes place between the 28th June-3rd July and will also host Nations Cups for Dressage, Eventing, Vaulting and Driving.

The following squad have been selected to represent Great Britain under the title sponsor banner of Team NAF:

Scott Brash from Horsham in West Sussex with the 13-year-old bay gelding Hello Jefferson, owned by Lady Kirkham and Lady Harris.

Harry Charles from Alton, Hampshire with the 13-year-old bay stallion Romeo 88 owned by Ann Thompson, or the 12-year-old bay gelding Casquo Blue, owned by Stall Zet.

Ben Maher from Bishop Stortford in Hertfordshire with the 12-year-old bay stallion Faltic HB owned by Oakingham Stud.

Jessica Mendoza from Horsham in West Sussex with her own 10-year-old chestnut gelding, Play.

John Whitaker from Huddersfield in West Yorkshire with his own and wife Clare Whitaker’s 14-year-old bay gelding Equine America Unick Du Francport.

The Nations Cup competition takes place on Thursday 30th June at 18:30 (BST) and the Grand Prix will be on Sunday 3rd July at 13:00 (BST). The Chef d’Equipe for the team will be Di Lampard.

As well as aiming for victory in the Nations Cup team competition on Thursday, riders will have their sights firmly set on the Rolex Grand Slam for which Aachen forms the first leg of the four majors; Aachen, Spruce Meadows, Geneva and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Simply put, any rider who wins the Grand Prix at Aachen, Spruce Meadows and Geneva will win one million euros in addition to the prize money on offer. An additional Grand Prix win at the fourth major, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, will increase that prize fund by another million euros.

Scott Brash was the first rider to win the Rolex Grand Slam in 2015. Aboard Hello Sanctos, he won the Grand Prix in Aachen, Spruce Meadows and Geneva, making history.
