Guy Williams finishes second in the CSI 3* Hardelot Grand Prix

Yesterday saw British rider Guy Williams, who is now based in France, partner  Di & Pennie Cornish’s 9 year-old bay gelding Basic finish second in the line-up in the 1.55m CSI 3* Grand Prix in Hardelot, France.

 It was a large field of sixty combinations that came forward  to contend the €61,500 prize fund on offer but it was just under a quarter of them that managed to achieve a clear in the first round.  It was Willem Greve with Carambole for the Netherlands that secured pole position after their jump off clear in a time of 45.85 seconds relegating Guy and Basic into second with their clear in a time of 47.09 seconds.  Third place went to home rider Mathieu Billot with Shiva D’Amaury.

William Whitaker and Fandango III gave GB another presence in the line-up with his 5th place finish with Elizabeth Fredlund’s 12 year old gelding Fandango III when they broke the finish line clear in 50.95 seconds just behind Laurent Goffinet and Quinette du Que.
