Sophie Phillips secures a win at the Pony British Novice Second Round held at Tushingham Arena.

From a competitive field of thirty-four starters, it was 15 year-old Sophie Phillips from Warwick, Warwickshire who secured victory in the Pony British Novice Second Round held at Tusingham Arena on the 14th May. On board Tracey Phillips 7 year-old bay gelding, Valentino Supreme, Sophie battled through the first two rounds, with poles falling and combinations diminishing, until she was amongst the final eleven competitors aiming for a triple clear in the jump off.  Holding her nerve to put in a high speed round, Sophie crossed the finish line in just 35.00 seconds.

Second place was taken by 15 year-old Melissa Hillard riding Llanidan Sweet Dream, a 7 year-old skewbald mare owned by Pam Hillard. After producing three consistent clear rounds, this combination posted a time of 35.85 seconds, just a fraction of a second behind Sophie, to go into second place.

Third place went to 14 year-old Ayesha Daniels from Bradford, West Workshire. Riding Rhoslanog Cross Tom, a 9 year-old bay gelding owned by Mrs Ayesha Daniels. This pair posted a triple clear in a time of 36.65 seconds.

The top ten combinations will now go forward to the Pony British Novice Championship Final at the British Showjumping National Championships 2016 which will be hosted at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire during the 9th – 14th August.
