NEW Ambassador announced for the British Showjumping National Championships

Following the tragic loss last year of the British Showjumping National Championships’ Official Show Ambassador, Tim Stockdale, organisers Grandstand Media Ltd are delighted to announce that Tim’s son Joe Stockdale has been appointed to take on the role for the prestigious event. Tim had been the National Championship’s Ambassador since it came to NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire in 2015; he was fundamental in the organisation and layout of the event and has both judged and competed there over the last four years. 19 year old Joe is following in his father’s footsteps to take on the role with the support of his mother Laura Stockdale. Joe’s role as the new British Showjumping National Championships’ Ambassador will involve active engagement with the show organisers, conducting media interviews during the event as they arise and promoting the National Championships as a great showcase of the sport that we all know and love.

Speaking to Joe about the opportunity, he commented: “It is a real honour to take on the role of the British Showjumping National Championships’ Ambassador; I just hope I can do my dad proud. He was so invested in the sport and his passion and determination was something I always aspired to be like. I have a great string of horses for this year so I am looking forward to being back competing at the National Championships in August.”

Event Director, Emma Wardell, added: “We are delighted that Joe has accepted the role of show ambassador for the British Showjumping National Championships. When discussions began about who would take on the role, it seemed only fitting that we offer it to Joe.  Despite him perhaps having less years of experience under his belt than other riders, the commitment he shows for the sport is second to none and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.”

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping, said: “We are delighted to have Joe take over the role as Ambassador for our National Championships.  The Championships are particularly poignant for him and as a local international rider, who has come up through the national competition structure, I couldn’t think of anyone more suitable to take over the post.”

Entries are now open for the British Showjumping National Championships which takes place from Tuesday 6th – Sunday 11th August, at the NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. With the addition of the Stoneleigh Horse Show from the Friday 9th – Sunday 11th along with tradestands, food stalls and evening entertainment, the show is shaping up to make an impressive fifth appearance at the venue.
