Sport Development Days

I am pleased to announce that two dates of 25 February, 2011 at Deeside College, North Wales and 26 February, 2011 at Pencoed College, South Wales for what we are calling Sports Performance Days. 

The sessions will include a number of generic sessions, such as Veterinary problems and ‘Why horses break down’, Sport Psychology and fitness with a good mix of practical and theory sessions. All sessions are unmounted, so you are not required to bring your horse with you. 

Spaces are very limited and you must be resident in Wales, British Showjumping member and jumping as follows:

16 - 18 year olds must be jumping 1.20m tracks and above
18 - 21 year olds must be jumping 1.30m tracks and above:
21 - 24 years old must be jumping 1.35m tracks and above:


The deadline for applications is January 31st 2011.

Sport Wales will provide funding of £5,000 to support this programme. There is no guarantee the funding will be continued in future years so ensure that you make the effort to attend now if you meet the criteria. The days are at no cost to you. The funding support is to provide a development squad structure for the FEI sports concentrating on the Olympic disciplines. This will be similar to existing structures in England and Scotland and is supported by Wales because the benefits have been proven elsewhere.
