Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final at Summerhouse Equitation Centre

 

Following a competitive year of qualifying, the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Regional Final held on Sunday 20th May 2012 at Summerhouse Equitation Centre in Gloucestershire attracted entries from over 65 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification. 
 
Riders flocked from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the Tri-Zone Senior Discovery Championship Final, which will be held at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012). 
 
Of the 67 entries in total, 60 combinations started in the Regional Final and 14 combinations made it through to the final jump off after first having to produce two clear rounds during the earlier phases of the competition. 
 
Of these 14 combinations, only five were able to produce the all important treble clear required and it was 21-year-old Alex Bishop from Stroud, Gloucestershire who finished at the top of the leader board. Alex rode his own Lupicor’s Lily to victory, coming home clear in a time of 44.61 seconds and with this result, he secured his place in the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final.
 
Alex and Lupicor’s Lily finished only 0.28 seconds ahead of second placed 17-year-old Ellie Hoursoglou from Swindon, Wiltshire. Ellie rode Sharon Hoursglou’s Athena III home in a time of 44.89 seconds to clinch the second qualifying spot for the Tri-Zone Airlite Senior Discovery Championship Final. 
 
The third qualifying spot went to third placed 17-year-old Jasmine Punter from Chippenham, Wiltshire and she rode her Clio V over the fences in a time of 46.75 seconds to give herself a clear margin over the fourth placed time of 49.10.  
 
In fourth was Victoria Ashworth from Bicester, Oxfordshire and she secured her qualification on Nicol Browne’s Bungowla Minnie Magic.  
 
The final qualifying spot went to fifth placed Fredrick Bergendorff from Banbury, Oxfordshire and he rode Ann Solis’ Benedictus home in a time of 49.40.

The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
