Sussex Academy Camp 2014

Thursday 27 February 2014

Sussex Academy Camp 2014

Where: Bedgebury Park, Kent - 27/28th May 2014

This is the first camp for Sussex Academy Members and we hope that it
will be an exciting and informative experience for all who attend. Any rider
affiliated with British Showjumping under the age of 21, is automatically a
member of Academy and able to attend. As this is a trial camp, although
parents are able to leave riders unattended during the day, we must ask that
riders have parental supervision in the evenings and whilst not involved in camp activities.

We are encouraging all to stay overnight, but this is not a requirement of the camp - see separate note on overnight accommodation.

Aim of the Academy Camp:

• To encourage a camaraderie between the members of the Sussex Academy
• To develop a greater understanding across all areas of horsemanship
• Increase awareness and positively impact junior membership, develop competitive edge, have fun and create value for the parents as well as the Academy members.

What’s included:

The cost of the two day camp will include the following:
1. Stabling for duration of camp - there may be bedding in the stable but this cannot be guaranteed - we can advise on this nearer the time, but you may be required to bring your own shavings. Hay/haylage is not included.
2. Sussex Academy Camp merchandise - see Application Form
3. Refreshments and lunch for both days, but not evening meals - although if the weather is fine, we may arrange a BBQ.
4. There will be individual and Team challenges throughout camp, as well as a final day competition.
5. Completion of at least one of the NAF 5* training program levels.
6. Talks and demonstrations by specialists - further information to follow on this.
7. A morning and afternoon mounted instruction - one will be a jumping session with Judi Piper-Dadswell and the other will be flatwork for jumping or gridwork with either Amanda Rowbuck or Maria Green.

All instructors are UKCC Level 3 approved by British Showjumping.

Overnight Accommodation:

We have assumed that the majority of riders will stay in their vehicles overnight. If you do not have living accommodation, camping is allowed. Alternatively, there is the option to stay in the
Farmhouse at a cost of £30 per bed per night. If you would like to do this, we need to know
immediately, so it can be booked. Payment of this must be made direct with Bedgebury.

NOTE : There is NO hookup - however, there may be limited access to electricity during the day

What to do next:

If you wish to attend we must have.
• A deposit payment of £100 BEFORE THE END OF MARCH, with the balance payable before
the end of April (a postdated cheque for the balance, with the deposit is preferred)
