Some Very Happy Just for School Winners

Annabel Shoosmith from Horsham, aged thirteen secured two wins in the Schools 80cm and 90cm League Classes at J. Bedford Equestrian Services last month

 

Annabel Shoosmith, aged thirteen from Horsham had a successful outing at Crockstead last month securing two wins in the Schools 80cm and 90cm League Classes. Riding for Worth School, Annabel and her pony Belfield Boy, otherwise known as Apollo, rode two great double clears.

 

Annabel has only been riding Apollo for a month and describes him as “A really fun ride, willing and keen to a fence but he does like to have a cheeky buck now and again”. 

 

Annabel’s mum Louise commented “We signed up to ‘Just for Schools’ as we saw lots of show centres were hosting them, and it is a great chance to qualify for the British Showjumping National Championships”.

Sissi Herbert from Basingstoke, aged eleven secured first place last month in the Schools 70cm League Class at Wellington Riding Centre

 

Sissi Herbert, aged eleven from Basingstoke secured first place last month in the Schools 70cm League Class at Wellington Riding Centre. Riding for Long Sutton Primary School, Sissi and her pony Beros Tintagel jumped a speedy double clear.

 

Speaking afterwards about her performance Sissi said “Beros Tintagel is super fun to ride, he is full of beans and responsive. He is only 11.3hh with a short stride so I have to keep my leg on and ride him forward, I also talk to him a lot to encourage him”.

Sissi’s mum Jaye explained how Sissi lives and breathes ponies and added “Sissi has been riding her whole life and decided showjumping was for her at the age of eight. The chance to compete at the British Showjumping National Championships with ‘Just for Schools’ is very exciting”.

With lots of support from her school Sissi hopes to qualify for the ‘Just for Schools’ Championships and says “I like being able to represent my school in my favourite sport”. 

Crystal lloyd at Crockstead Equestrian, J. Bedford equestrian Services Show

Crystal Lloyd, aged ten from Brighton secured first place last month in the Schools 70cm League Class at J. Bedford Equestrian Services. Representing her school Our Lady of Lourdes, Crystal and her pony Twyford Courvoisier were the only combination to jump double clear.

Speaking afterwards about her performance Crystal said “Twyford Courvoisier is very strong and loves to win, he always try's his best and gets good results”.

Crockstead Equestrian has now started running ‘Just for Schools’ competitions at Crockstead Equestrian Centre in Halland, East Sussex. Whilst Crystal was already riding affiliated, her mum Nicola was keen to sign Crystal up to ‘Just for Schools’ so that she could jump 70cm tracks.

Proud of her achievements Crystal added “I enjoy representing my school and showing my rosettes in assembly”.

The ‘Just for Schools’ League run by British Showjumping offers riders the chance to compete Individually or as a Team in classes ranging from 70cm to 1.10m with the chance to qualify for the Championships.
