Inter Academy Team Event at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

Wednesday 18th February saw the Central Region Junior Academy hold an Inter Academy Team and Individual event at Bury Farm Equestrian Village, Buckinghamshire.  The show was open to all Junior Academies with classes ranging from 70cm to 1.20m consisting of four team competitions and an individual competition in each category.

Class One – Mini Team

Ten teams came forward to contest the Mini Team Event where the height of the class was 70cms for two of the riders and 80cms for the other two team members.

 The Central Junior Academy team calling themselves Triple X Group consisting of Riley Hayward and Paddy IX,  Megan Li and Blue Eyes,  11 year-old Francesca Mellor riding Treowen Baby Blue and the final team member was Harley Eighteen riding Thistledown Pluto took the victory after only picking up total 4 faults over both rounds but finishing on 0 faults over all.

Second place went to the team from the Berkshire Junior Academy who calling themselves Team 1 consisted of Nora Shields with Jumper II, Zoe Webber with Celton Gem, Stephen Webber with My Maggie May with Tatiane Mauree riding Waflles after the team finished on 4 faults

The Suffolk Tigers consisting of Jacob Wright with Poppy Fields Nutcracker, Ethan Milner Moore riding Watch the Pennies, Jake Barton riding Electro and Imogen Milner Moore riding Spikeman finished in third place after picking up 12 faults.

Class One – Mini Individual

Twelve year-old Alice Wilson from Warwickshire partnering Whistlewood Warrior a 22 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Christopher Colclough took the victory in the individual after jumping double clear in 24.51 seconds. 

Continuing with her luck from the Team event Francesca Mellor riding Treowen Baby Blue finished in second after producing their double clear in 25.49 seconds.

Third place went to 12 year-old Liberty Hargrave from Norfolk partnering her mother Juliet’s 14 year-old skewbald gelding Little Oakhurst after they gained their double clear in 26.89 seconds.

Class Two – Intermediate Team

Sixteen teams came forward to contest the Intermediate Team Event where the height of the class was 80/90cms for two of the riders and 90cms/1m for the other two team members.

The Kent Junior Academy team calling themselves Intermediate Dragons consisting of Abby Weller riding Prima Barnaby,  Sophie Gadd  with Tiffany V, Nellie Venner-King riding Spellbound Wizard and the final team member was Sophie Doherty from Maidstone riding Killy Float took the victory after only picking up total 4 faults over both rounds but finishing on 0 faults over all.

Second place went to the team from the Sussex Junior Academy who calling themselves Sussex Jays who consisted of Issie Porter with Bally Finane Jazz, Claire Drury with Dilly Dolly, Megan Maguire riding Mi Flamenca and  Scott Dollemore with Grantstown Rebel  after the team also finished on 0 faults but were slightly slower in the jump off.

Third place went to The Milton Marvels a team from the Central Academy who consisted of Taila Clarke with Blakeney Lad, Tegan McNamara partnering Bring It On, Olivia Stirret with Aosta Dinky and Josh Barton and Spiffy. They finished on four faults after the jump off.

Class Two – Intermediate Individual

Fifteen year-old Sophie Rankin from Rochford, Essex riding Marno a 18 year-old brown gelding owned by her mother Carri Ann took the victory in the individual after putting in two foot perfect rounds in a fast time of 23.59 seconds.

Second place went to 15 year-old Laura Charley from Fillongley, Coventry partnering Popies Pop Star a 7 year-old skewbald mare owned by Stephanie Charley after producing their double clear in 25.44 seconds.

Sophie Gadd with Tiffany V continuing with her luck from the team event went on to take third place after they gained their double clear in 25.51 seconds.

Class Three – Maxi Team

Eleven teams came forward to contest the Maxi Team Event where the height of the class was 90cms/1m for two of the riders and 1m/1.10m for the other two team members.

Victory went to the Central Region Junior Academy team calling themselves Chiltern Chasers consisting of Isabelle Hoar with Sir Henry III,  Renae Moore  with Uncanny, Orla Morrin riding Sweet Whispers and the final team member was Katie Waldock-Smith with Ross Cottage after picking up 8 faults.

Second place went to the team from the W,M & South Glamorgan & Gwent Junior Academy who calling themselves Area 35 Top Guns consisted of Eleanor Thorne with Brillview Quelle Surprise, Stephanie Brownbill and Arazzamattazz, Eleanor Thorne and JJ II and Hannah Davies with Beechpark Molly after the team also finished on 8 faults but were slightly slower in the jump off.

Third place went to Open a team from the Essex Academy who consisted of Felicity Gozzett with Francus, Jade Leeland and Templenacrona Bailey, Abigail Dorset & Dark Aurora and Sophie Rankin with Paddioco. They finished on 12 faults after the jump off.

Class Three – Maxi Individual

Twelve year-old Megan Maguire from Horsham, West Sussex partnering her mother Karen’s 8 year-old chestnut mare Serina took the victory in the individual after putting in two foot perfect rounds in a time of 32.59 seconds.

Second place went to 15 year-old Scott Dollemore from East Grinstead, West Sussex riding Grantstown Rebel a 9 year-old grey gelding owned by his father Mark. This combination produced  their two foot perfect rounds crossing the finish line in 33.11 seconds.

Third place went to 13 year-old Ella Hammond from Chartham, Kent and she was riding Holly VI  a 6 year-old bay mare owned by her father Piers. They produced their double clear in a time of 33.21 seconds.

Class Four  – Children on Horses – Team

Thirteen teams came forward to contest the Maxi Team Event where the height of the class was 90cms/1m for two of the riders and 1.10m/1.20m for the other two team members.

Victory went to the Central Region Junior Academy team calling themselves Renwicks Rebels consisting of Georgina Burchmore-Eames riding Ruby V,  Rhiannon Lawrence  with Papillon Du Marclet,  Georgia Sims riding O Lord and the final team member was Olivia Howe with Wantos after the whole team jumped clear.

Second place went to the Hampshire Blues consisting of Rebecca Ellis and Billy Armstong, Emily Rowe and George, Jo Veitch and Sweet Shutterfly and the four team member was Ben Clark with Senior K. The team also finished on 0 faults but their combined time was 3 seconds slower.

Third place went to Horses, a team from the Essex Academy who consisted of Mary McGuigan with Ben Gen, Brook Hunter and Little Cruise, Harry Rankin and Allenstown Diamond and Yazmin Dole with Lovini. They finished on 4 faults.

Class Four -Children on Horses – Individual

Victory in the Individual went to sixteen year-old Brook Hunter  from Romford, Essex  partnering her mother Lisa’s 8 year-old grey, gelding Little Cruise after the combination put in a clear round and crossed the finish line in 31.80 seconds.

Sixteen year-old Eleanor Brewer from Kings Lynn, Norfolk with her own 16 year-old grey mare Ballyellen Bella took second after this combination produced a foot perfect round stopping the clock in 33.25 seconds.

Third place went to 19 year-old Melissa Thorpe from Billericay, Essex riding her own 11 year-old piebald gelding MT’s Rhythm and Blues, they produced their clear in a time of 35.13 seconds.
