Emma-Jo Slater Claims SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier Win at Blue Barn Equestrian Centre

Emma-Jo Slater from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire gave a clean performance on Sunday to claim the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Blue Barn Equestrian Centre in Kent.

A starting field of thirty-two driven competitors took on the testing course, all contesting for one of the two qualification places on offer for the Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex this summer. The starting line-up was whittled down to just twelve talented combinations for the jump off and that’s where the tension really began to mount. 

Riding Misha Pitt’s 7 year-old bay mare, Wood Field Clover, Emma-Jo used her late draw to full effect. Holding her nerve, she guided the mare to smooth yet speedy clear round, crossing the finish line in 28.44 seconds, a time which saw the pair sneak into first place by just 0.01 of a second. 

Taking second place was Michaela Huntington from Braintree, Essex. Michaela rode her own 6 year-old bay mare, Gina Trojka S and the combination secured a fast double clear when they finished up in 28.45 seconds.
