Recently rejoined Wokingham and Bearwood Riding Club member Alice Gethin, aged 29 from Wokingham, secured first place last month in the Dodson and Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Qualifier – First Round at Parwood Equestrian Centre. Alice and her horse C Jumper P (otherwise known as Freddie) rode a fast double clear to take the lead.
Speaking afterwards about her performance Alice commented; “Freddie goes best when I don't interfere too much so instead I just work on keeping the flow. He loves questions though and because the course was quite twisty the tighter turns really suited him.”
Alice explained that Freddie was extremely green when she first got him five years ago so spent a lot of time schooling at home and hacking out before joining British Showjumping. Alice now aims to compete at Hickstead and try some derby classes with Freddie.
“The training British Showjumping offers has developed my riding the most; I have been on some really good regional clinics and the standard of coaching is very high,” Alice added.
