SCOTTISH RESTRICTED PONY SHOW- CLUB/CATEGORY 1

Due to the recent topic of discussion around Pony Shows in Scotland, a new idea to encourage more Pony Shows from grass roots up as requested has been agreed by Scottish Members and the venues as below.  Please note this is only for Scotland and is not included in the Pony Shows south of the Border.

These shows will only be successful if the Scottish Membership support the venues and attend the shows, so please spread the word to encourage everyone to come along and give it a go.

The main points discussed with the Scottish Pony Membership were:

  • Travel Costs – cannot afford to travel far every weekend.
  • New Members – not joining due to no shows to attend in their area.
  • Only one pony show a weekend in Scotland – not supporting the members.

The proposal to incorporate a Category 1 Pony Show in Scotland to accommodate all levels of Juniors from grass roots up was taken to the AGM in March 2015. It was welcomed by the members who attended and also all venues in Scotland agreed to trial these shows at the dates meeting, where the Scottish dates were allocated from September 2015 to the end of March 2016.

These shows will be held on the same weekend as a normal pony show elsewhere in Scotland and, certainly when the Open competitors are down South at Pony Premiers, to accommodate the other riders in Scotland.

An example schedule of the classes being held at a Cat 1 Pony Show is below.

Class 2, 3 and 4 have been restricted, for a Pony Restricted Cat 1/Club Show only, to allow the grass roots riders a chance to win at their respective heights.

No Scottish points will be awarded at this show.

They will also include the New Recruits series and 11 years and under with a final at the Scottish Branch Trophy Show for both.  Scottish Branch will sponsor and supply Rosettes and Medals for all double clears in both these classes.  Please note the Scottish Branch 11 years and under series will be at 80cm held at either a Pony Cat 1 or original Pony Show Cat 2, for the British Showjumping 11 years and under class that will be at 90cm only to be held at a Cat 2 Pony Show.
