Scott Brash & Hello M’Lady finish 3rd in Madrid World Cup Qualifier
Monday 28 November 2016
The sixth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup series which took place in Madrid this afternoon saw some incredibly tough competition with Scott Brash and Hello M’Lady owned by Lady Kirkham and Lady Harris finish 3rd.
Javier Trenor’s course had asked a lot of questions with the time allowed of 68 seconds seeing many struggle to stay within it. The course spanned twelve fences requiring fifteen jumping efforts with the bulk of the errors occurring within the combination mid-way on the course. It was just nine combinations that made it round on a zero penalty score to qualify for the jump-off.
Only five riders managed to jump another clear with Marcus Ehning (GER) and Comme II Faut delivering an incredibly fast time of 43.56 seconds to knock Kevin Staut from the early lead he had secured with his clear in a time of 43.98 seconds on Aran.
Scott, had initially appeared as if he had a chance of catching the leaders but unfortunately he just wasn’t fast enough to catch Marcus or Kevin with his time of 44.05 seconds. It was however enough to secure him just behind them into a 3rd place and an allocation of the lucrative World Cup points that all the riders are chasing.
Talking afterwards Scott commented “I am delighted with the result. M’Lady has had a long break so I am delighted to have her back jumping well at this level”.
