Scots claim top two places in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Arena UK

SCOTTISH riders claimed the top two qualifying spots in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at Arena UK last weekend.
Shaunie Greig put in the winning performance against 82 keen competitors.
With just two Horse of the Year Show tickets on offer for this October’s Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final and after two nail biting rounds it came down to just eight combinations in the final jump off.
Fifteen-year-old Shaunie, from Fife, put in a stylish performance on board Alison Mcdonald’s eight-year-old black mare, Teagan Arla Rose, to finish in first place. This partnership were able to show their precision and speed as they claimed a spot in the final jump off. Keeping their focus, they crossed the finish well ahead of the competition in 32.34 seconds.
Claiming the second qualifying ticket was Scottish Borders schoolgirl Megan Morris with RS Capello, they were just over a second adrift to finish on 33.58 seconds
The riders and ponies that finished in third to fifth took home the chance to compete in the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships.
