Roundup of the Scottish riders at Olympia
Wednesday 20 December 2017
SEVERAL Scottish riders secured placing at the recent Olympia Horse Show.
Best results came in the 148cm final which saw three riders qualify from Scotland. Reigning HOYS champion Shaunie Greig, Nicole Lockhead Anderson and Fraser Reed flew the flag. Shaunie jumped a superb first round clear with Casino Royale VIII and was joined by another six riders into a red hot jump-off. Sadly a fence down left them in third spot.
Nicole had four faults in the first round with Gangnam Style II for eigth and Fraser Reed finished down the line with Kilcloghan DG Clover.
In the Under 23s final when Aimee Bell, riding her mother Sally Guild's Cameron Poe just rubbed one pole. With the top 10 riders going into the second round they jumped a superb clear with three time faults to finish in fifth spot. Also in the same class was Fife rider Mark Turnbull, riding his mother Mary's Cartouch III. They also had a fence down in the first round and kicked out two fences in the jump-off to finish in eigthth spot.
William Stewart had a great experience in the 128cm final with Sox's Pocket Rocket with two poles down to finish seventh. Sadly Amy Morris could not replicate her winning HOYS form with Madonna on her penultimate competition with the schoolmistress.
Finally young Savannah Roper jumped in the mini-major with William Funnell to finish in seventh spot.
