New venue and format for the Junior Academy Show 2018

British Showjumping are pleased to announce that the 2018 Junior Academy Show will be taking place at Stoneleigh Park between Sunday 12th – Tuesday 14th August, immediately following the British Showjumping National Championships.

The show will now form part of the national competition structure and become a national championship show in its own right.

The show, which was the brainchild of Corinne Bracken and Carl Belson, was first run 10 years ago and very quickly grew into the extremely popular one that it is with representation from academies spanning all eight regions of the sport.

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping commented “Corinne and Carl’s vision of creating an inter-academy championships for our national academy framework has proved to be an incredible success. We have always been supportive of the show and when we were approached about potentially incorporating it into our national competition structure it was something we said yes to very quickly”.

Corinne Bracken furthered: “The inter-academy show is incredibly close to both mine and Carl’s hearts and is an event we are very proud of.  The show has gone from strength-to-strength and we felt that the time was right for it now to be developed further and for the event to be recognised in its own right as a national championships within the governing body competition structure. We are both very proud of the show and look forward to it now running concurrently with the National Championships which seems a perfectly fitting platform for it to move forward from”.

Carl Belson added: “We always felt the inter-academy show format would be welcomed by those eligible to compete in it and that it would be successful, but its popularity and growth surpassed even our expectations.”

The show will commence with a warm-up class on Sunday 12th August after the National Champion has been crowned at the British Showjumping National Championships. Competitors are then offered two full days team and individual inter-academy showjumping before it draws to a close on Tuesday 14th August.

Further details including the format and class heights will be confirmed in due course.
