On the 17th November ISEC celebrated its two year anniversary. The ISEC team hope that many riders have been able to hone their skills and maximise their achievements through training and competing at ISEC since it opened. On the back of this Ian and Jenny Stark decided to offer a £250 training award for the winner to spend on training, facility hire or competition entries at the Centre.

An independent panel mulled over the 23 applications submitted and agreed on 6 finalists. These applications were then posted on the ISEC website and went to public vote. Nearly 900 votes where received over a five day period with only 4 votes between the winner ‘Team McFadyen’ and the runner up Sarah Johnstone.

The ISEC team would like to thank all those who submitted applications – the panel found it incredibly difficult to pick the final 6 with the standard being so high.

‘Team McFadyen’, consisting of Duncan (14), Katy (12) and Rory (9), live near Kelso and their lorry could virtually drive itself to ISEC! They visit the centre nearly every week training and competing in various disciplines. 2015 has been an exceptional year for the family: Rory is now successfully competing in 85cm affiliated competitions; Katy represented Scotland at the British Showjumping Academy Final at Weston Lawns during the summer months; and Duncan qualified for the Dengie finals and jumped in the British Showjumping Scottish 95cm team. The whole family qualified (at ISEC) to represent their respective schools at the National Schools Equestrian finals in October. It was a very successful week with Katy being part of the winning Morebattle Primary School team.

We wish the family the best of luck in 2016 and very much look forward to seeing them progress with the added benefit of their ISEC Award.

The Centre continues to be busy with lessons carrying on in wintery weather thanks to the large indoor arena, the Christmas Show and Fair, making plans for Harry Meade’s visit and the Family Fun Day – oh, and we are now selling Christmas Trees!
