Howe Country Centre Show Equissage Discovery Second Round

Howe Country Centre in Cupar, Fife held an Equissage Discovery Second round this weekend giving competitors the chance to qualify for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival 2011.

With seventeen starters there was only the one Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festi...val ticket up for grabs. Seven combinations made it through to the second round with only four jumping clear again to jump off for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification.

First to go in the jump off was nineteen year old Gillian Anderson riding her mother, Linda’s six year old bay mare Patsy II. Although they put in a good jump off time of 40.32 seconds lowering two poles near the end of the course left them with eight faults and eventual fourth place.

Next into the arena was Leven based Sandra Low-Mitchell riding her own eight year old bay gelding Wannabe. Sandra knew she had to jump clear in a time quick enough to put pressure on the remaining two competitors. Doing just that this combination came home clear in a time of 38.47 seconds which managed to hold on to the lead, giving Sandra the win and the all important Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival qualification.

Following Sandra into the arena was Andrew Wilson from Wetherby, West Yorkshire riding Linda Anderson’s six year old bay mare Avenue Sow. Although managing to jump clear this combination were just off the time set by Sandra, coming home in 43.70 seconds and taking second place.

Last to go in this jump off was local rider eighteen year old Emma Haworth from Leven. Emma was partnering Laura Clark’s seven year old bay gelding Zeau M, who lowering just one pole in a time of 43.70 seconds picked up third place.
