Graham Babes claims a Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Qualifier win at the Dumfries & Lockerbie Show

GRAHAM BABES led the Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C qualifier at Dumfries & Lockerbie Show in Dumfrieshire to book a place in the Championship at the Horse of the Year Show in October.

Ayrshire based Graham claimed top spot on board his own six-year-old bay gelding, Glencoe after the initial starting field was whittled down to a determined 10-horse jump-off. With three Horse of the Year Show tickets were on offer, Graham and Glencoe produced a speedy double clear to slip ahead of their competitors in a time of 44.12 seconds.

Declan Irvine from Lanarkshire put forward a clean performance riding Richard Duncan’s nine-year-old bay gelding Mystic Independence, with a double clear in 48.73 seconds.

The third and final ticket went to Amanda Millin from Bolton, Lancashire. Amanda rode DJ, a nine-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Matthew Millin to the final double clear of the class in 52.06 seconds.
