British Showjumping Board Directors Appointed

British Showjumping is delighted to announce that the three Non-Executive Board Director vacancies which arose as part of the term rotation have now been appointed.

The three voluntary positions have all been appointed for a three year term commencing from the 1st April 2018 and are as follows:

Alison Rankin Frost - PR & Communications Non-Executive Board Director, British Showjumping
Alison has been reappointed in her role on the Non-Exec board having initially been appointed in 2015.
She is an experienced non-executive board director who has worked as an advisor at board level across a number of organisations.  Alison is a Governor of the London School of Economics and a Patron of the Royal Shakespeare Company.  She is one of just over 200 Chartered Public Relations Professionals in the UK (CIPR).  She is a former President of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in the UK and currently sits on the Council of the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA).

Commenting on her reappointment “I am once again extremely pleased to have accepted the position of Non-Executive Board Director at British Showjumping.  I am an enthusiastic equestrian and returned to riding as an adult after a long break.  During the past three years I have been able to bring my commercial experience to a sport that I am so passionate about and I look forward to continuing to do so during my second term.”

Stuart McInnes  - Legal and Governance Non-Executive Board Director, British Showjumping
Stuart has been reappointed in his role on the Non-Exec Board having initially been appointed in 2015.
A Consultant at global law Firm, Squire Patton Boggs, who has since 2004, sat as an Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne , Switzerland.  Stuart has sat on more than 300 arbitrations and in 2012 he was appointed as one of twelve arbitrators to sit on the Ad Hoc Committee of the CAS for the 2012 Olympic Games, London and again for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Brazil.  He is also a Visiting Professor to the Instituto Superior Derecho y Economia in Madrid, Spain and regularly lectures at International Sports Conferences around the world.

On his appointment Stuart said “I am delighted to have been reappointed to the Board of British Showjumping and to continue sharing my knowledge and experience with my fellow colleagues on behalf of the membership.  I trust that together we can continue contributing to the ongoing development and success of the sport”.

Samantha Livesey – Showjumping Specific Non Executive Board Director, British Showjumping
Samantha has been a member of British Showjumping for over 25 years. Competing initially at Young Rider level, where she qualified and jumped twice in the Young Riders Final at Olympia International Horse Show, she has produced showjumpers from British Novice through to Grade A level and CSI Amateur International Competition, and currently competes her two horses in the North West region.  In addition to competing within the sport and understanding the needs of its key stakeholders, Samantha brings an added depth of expertise, knowledge and value to British Showjumping in her professional capacity as a partner at International law firm Pinsent Masons LLP.  Heading up the Commercial team, Samantha is well used to working with clients at Board level and has specialist sports sector expertise as a key member of Pinsent Masons' Business of Sport legal team, leading the firm's Horseracing and Equine Industries advisory service.  Advising sports industry clients such as UK Sport and The Jockey Club, Samantha also sits on the BEF anti-doping board where she has participated as a panel member in an associated tribunal hearing.

On her appointment Samantha said “It's an absolute honour to take on the role of Showjumping Specific Non-Executive Director at British Showjumping.  I'm passionate about driving the sport forward in a way that will encourage progression and development for both the human and equine athlete.  By combining my knowledge of showjumping as a competing member and my professional knowledge and expertise as a commercial and sports lawyer, I look forward to giving something back to British Showjumping and its governance, as the sport has brought me so much pleasure over the years."

Samantha, in her newly appointed role, will join Les Harris (Chairman) and the rest of the Board.  Les commented  “We look forward to welcoming Samantha into her newly appointed role and are pleased to be announcing the reappointment of both Alison and Stuart following their initial term with British Showjumping.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Julia Biddle, not only for her commitment to the sport during her past two terms but also for her extensive service prior to this as both a Board and Committee member.”
