Showjumping Stallion HFS Valentino Achieves AES Approved Status
Tuesday 15 May 2012
Judith and Simon Buckley’s showjumping stallion HFS Valentino, the current national 6-year-old Champion, has been upgraded from ‘Licensed’ to ‘Approved’ status by the Anglo European Studbook (AES).
By Heartbreaker (Nimmerdor) out of a Concorde mare, the 16.1hh chestnut HFS Valentino has proven his ability both in competition and as a sire. His impressive competition record includes:-
HOYS third place in National 6yo Championship
Winner 6yo Championship at Arena UK
National 6yo Champion at British Show Jumping SCOPE Festival
National 5yo second place in SCOPE Championship
5yo Champion on the Portuguese Sunshine Tour
National 4yo winner at British Young Horse Championships
Purchased as a weaned foal from his Irish breeder and based in Cumbria at the Buckleys’ Hill Farm Stud, where Simon has produced him, HFS Valentino achieved ‘Licensed’ status as a 3yo and his first crop of foals, now three, have inherited his excellent conformation, athleticism and eyecatching good looks.
Under the AES system of stallion grading, ‘Approved’ is the maximum level of grading and applies to stallions competing or have previously competed at an International level and with proven offspring. Approved Grade stallions can cover an unlimited number of mares.
Selected onto the Equine Pathway by British Showjumping at the end of last year, HFS Valentino is being produced for this season’s Foxhunter Championship, the national Grade C Championship and selected international shows. He has qualified for the Royal Highland and will also start in one or more of the new 7 & 8-year-old qualifiers, although Simon feels that next year, as an 8yo, his additional experience will ensure he can be very competitive in that Championship.
HFS Valentino will stand at Millfield Stud for a limited period for fresh and chilled AI, but frozen semen is also available. For more information, contact Simon Buckley on 07786 735122 or visit www.hillfarm-ings.co.uk
