SEIB Winter Novice Winners
Tuesday 22 March 2016
Henrietta Dales tasted success as she took on fifty-seven other competitors on Saturday and secured the top spot in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at Bishop Burton College in Beverley, East Yorkshire.
Saturday provided the final qualification opportunity available in this current winter competition calendar and all fifty-eight competitors were eagerly pursuing the two qualifying tickets up for grabs for the Championship which takes place at the Longines Royal International Horse Show in July. Following a nail biting first round, only fifteen combinations made it through to the jump off, where the competition really shifted up a gear.
Henrietta, from Brough, East Yorkshire, won the class on Cakipapatino, a 8 year-old bay gelding owned by Russ Underwood. Henrietta and Cakipapatino posted a safe and steady clear in the first round, booking their place in the jump off. The jump off is where they really picked up the pace, delivering a double clear in just 37.39 seconds
Second place was taken by Lisa Jones from Doncaster, South Yorkshire and she was on board her own 8 year-old grey mare, Diana P. Lisa and Diana P gave a clean performance in both rounds and only narrowly missed out on the top spot after coming home in a time of 38.00 seconds in the jump off.
