Sixteen combinations came forward to contest the Dodson & Horrell 0.85cm National Amateur Second Round hosted by Holmside Hall in Burnhope, County Durham on Sunday 14th September 2014.

Each starter was aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014. 

Eleven combinations produced the first round clear required for a place in the jump off and eight of these combinations then went on to secure a double clear.

Victory in this second round was taken by 16 year-old Lucy Gilsenan from Scarborough, North Yorkshire riding her mother Susan’s 9 year-old chestnut mare Qui Qui. The combination produced the fastest double clear of the class to cross the finish line in 36.19 seconds. 

Second place went to 44 year-old Angela Mills from Haswell, County Durham riding her own 10 year-old bay gelding Quids In II. They secured their double clear in 36.45 seconds.

Third place was taken by 20 year-old Lauren Roseberry from Houghton Le Spring, Tyne and Wear and she was on board her mother Joanne’s 6 year-old dark bay mare Dark Dutchess. They produced their second foot perfect round in 36.60 seconds.
