County Durham Cre8ive Coaching 2016

County Durham Cre8ive Coaching Programme 2016

With the launch of the new Sport England Strategy – Towards an Active Nation - which seeks to put the customer first, focus on those least active and transform how sport is delivered across the country, County Durham Sport have teamed up with Streetgames to create an innovative, exciting and free programme for 12 current and aspiring activity leaders and coaches, with varying amounts of knowledge and expertise, to develop new skills and understanding so they can look to deliver a different type of fun and engaging sessions to a different audience of young people aged 14-25yrs who are currently not regularly active.

This FREE opportunity is a pilot programme worth in excess of £600 per person.  It will include, amongst other things, 2 Activator workshops and culminate in a L2 Multi Skills qualification, as well as the opportunity to be a part of a learning network.  The programme will run over 6months and has been designed so that the time commitment won’t be too onerous.  It is anticipated that following the acquisition of these new skills, there may be some prospects for part time casual coaching opportunities once the new coaches are qualified and the programme is complete (although this is not guaranteed).  In return all we ask is for you to share your learning journey with us and inform us of its usefulness, what worked well and what could be improved so we can learn from the  successes and disappointments

We are looking to recruit 6 young people aged 17yrs– 25yrs old (with limited or no experience of coaching) AND 6 current club coaches (any age) who live or study in County Durham and are interested in delivering sport  in a non-traditional sport club style and/or setting.  We want to evolve a network of learning whereby everyone will learn from each other, from their experiences and from a structured learning programme; and will be able to think outside of the box, learn and share different approaches, and create and deliver in an environment which will help meet the needs of young people aged 14-25yrs who are currently not regularly active, thus helping them become more active more often.

CLOSING DATE FOR COMPLETED APPLICATIONS IS Tuesday 23rd August.
