Monday 02 June 2014
British Showjumping in partnership with Haddon Training Ltd is pleased to announce that applications for the next intake of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence programme will open on Monday 2nd June 2014.
Since its launch in back February 2013, the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) has been hugely successful in developing and preparing talented young athletes (age 16-19) who have a real chance of excelling in their sport and competing on the international stage. So far, forty-four riders have participated in the programme.
Only last week, six riders from the AASE programme represented Great Britain under the Team Fairfax banner at the FEI CSIO Junior and Young Rider Nations Cup Show in Deauville, France.
Jake Saywell was part of the Junior Nations Cup Team that finished second in their respective competition; whilst Alfie Bradstock, Rebecca Marsh, Abigail Newbury and Laura Robinson formed the Young Riders Team that also went on to take second place in their Nations Cup.
Squad member Dominic Webb then topped the leader board in the Young Rider Grand Prix after producing the only first round clear.
The Apprenticeship covers all aspects of a professional athlete’s career; it develops the riders’ technical and tactical skills and also ensures that they are well prepared to deal with the wider challenges of a career in showjumping. This Level 3 programme offers riders the chance to continue their education gaining a nationally recognised qualification in a relevant and inspiring environment, whilst simultaneously benefiting from a comprehensive training and support programme delivered by showjumping’s top coaches and experts.
