Allan Birch lands a SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier win at Aintree Equestrian Centre

Monday 15 October 2018

On a wet Sunday at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool, eighty-four competitors came forward to jump in the SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier and it was Lancashire’s Allan Birch who took the win with a speedy double clear.

With just two qualification places on offer for this year’s Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex next summer, a highly competitive class followed. Twenty-seven combinations claimed a place in the jump off with eleven combinations going on to produce a double clear.

Riding Amy Morton’s 8 year-old grey gelding Parkmore Rowan, Allan produced an accurate first round to claim a place in the jump off. This pair managed to cross the finish line in 35.61 seconds beating second placed Anne Clarke and Little Man IV by 0.72 seconds.
