Suffolk British Showjumpers Are on Fire!!

Suffolk showjumper Tim Davies has had an amazing start to 2013 with impressive results on his home produced horses at Windsor and Addington, and at the county shows in Devon and Suffolk and finally at the South of England show. On top of this he has also competed in his first Nation’s Cup.

At Addington he took both top places in the £1,000 1.35 class with Barratt Watson’s Valentijn O coming 1st and Salome, owned by Sarah Chenevix-Trench taking 2nd  place.

He followed this up at Windsor with 13-year-old Salome winning both the 1.45 and the six bar, where he cleared a 1.90 fence.  Valentinj O, an 11-year-old by Ferro, took 5th place in the Grand Prix and Alure, owned by Jessica Tillett, won the 7- and 8-year-old class and was 5th  in the 1.50.

The wins kept coming at Devon County with Salome, a 13-year-old by Saskan, winning the 1.45, and taking 2nd  in the International Stairway, while Valentinj O was 3rd  in the Area Trial.

After this he got his call up to the Nation’s Cup in Copenhagen where Salome was 2nd in the 1.50 and Valentinj O came 6th in the 1.45 with an overall fourth place in the  Cup.

His success continued on home ground at Suffolk County Show. He took the title of leading Suffolk rider following a 2nd place on 8-year-old Alure in the 1.25 class and a 4th with Valentinj O in the International Stairway.

And finally, at South of England, Tim was third in the international  stairway on Valentijn O, 1st  in the 1.40 on Alure and 4th  on Salome.

So congratulations to Tim whose three horses scored 6 firsts, 5 second places and 10 other top places in international and national competitions.   And it’s only the beginning of June!

Congratulations also to Suffolk-based Emily Hilton whose ride Tygris had a convincing two second win in the accumulator class at Herts County. She has been riding the diminutive gelding, who stands at little more than 15.1, for nearly six months. “We are beginning to see what he’s capable of. He’s great fun and very fast,” says Emily.

Emily also won the newcomers class as South of England on five-year-old Milly on Air by Billy Mexico and was 3rd on eight-year-old Assy Sina in the 1.30. Both these mares have been home produced.

This year also saw success for Emily in her international debut in Portugal.  Her 5 year olds, Milly on Air and Chica were consistently placed in their age classes.  Both of these have been produced at her home in Hadleigh, Suffolk.  There was great success too for Assy Sina who was placed in many of her small and medium tour classes during the four-week show.
