Region E Championship Show Report

A disappointing turn out for the Region E Championship Show on Sunday 17th can be explained by Discovery and British Novice 2nd rounds taking place nearby, and Kent County tempting those wishing to jump bigger fences! However Area 40 Members Melissa Eagles who had a 1st and a 2nd with Logan III and Tom Plaster who had a 1st and a 3rd with Sunshine VII were very happy to receive watches kindly donated by David Rogers, Area Rep for Northamptonshire as Leading Lady and Gent respectively. The evergreen Zerro won the 1m Amateur for Michaela Huntington, with Stacey Webb taking 1st in the KBIS Insurance British Novice with Trefrifawr Beau and Michael Fursedonn winning the Equissage Discovery. Claire Neilson-Hanson was happy to ride away with the £150 1st prize in the 1.30m while Michael Fursedonn and Caratino Vantarsi warmed up with 4 faults in the 1.30m before travelling to Crofton Manor on the Monday where they qualified for the HOYS Horse and Hound Foxhunter final despite having not arrived in time for Michael to walk the course!!
Sunday also saw the National Team Qualifying competition where 7 teams came forward for the 2 qualifying places. Suffolk Sourcerers (Paula Block with A Rolling Thunder, Roaringwater Bay and Emily Hart, Annabelle Block and ISHD Arctic Storm and Georgia Leader-White with Utah V) kept a completely clean sheet to win with Essex Braves (Vanessa Irion with Rathnure Cruz, Jade Burley with Ayrton II, Tom Plaster with Zantos, and Michael Fursedonn with Zovidus R) just having a stop in the jump off (Michael’s horse having pulled a shoe off) to slot into 2nd.
