Norton Heath New Year Show

A Happy New Year was had by all at Norton Heath’s 3 day Amateur Extravaganza Show 30th Dec – 1st Jan
The show kick started with Melissa Eagles winning the John Egmore Equestrian Supplies 90cm qualifier in fine style on her own Logan III from Hannah Dakers, one of our show sponsors, on her mother Suzannah’s Ullswater. Haannah Rix came third on her own Ranfirly Tiarnech with Jess Joslie and Apache Discovery finishing fourth. The winners received vouchers from Crown Corner.
Hannah then managed to turn the tables in the Eastminster Saddlery 1m qualifier winning on Ullswater, with Melissa second this time on Logan III and Apache Discovery and Jess came in third, closely followed by Deborah Scott-Garrett and her mother Ann’s first date, sponsors of the class who also provided some fantastic prizes.
The we were onto the Accumulator with Joker generously sponsored by County Wholesale Farm Feeds, with competitors vying for the House & Jackson rug, and vouchers from County Wholesale. The class winners were Samantha Smith with Ema with Emma Smith close behind on magic Mirs, closely followed by Leesa Long riding her own Cor Van Ter Heide and Richard Reeve Young on Nicki Bailey-Gibsons Sydney, just piping Nicki herself on Umberto III
The Mark White Farriery Services 1.10m qualifier saw competitors challenging for the prizes on offer, with Lessa Long this time on Tammys Girl winning in a very fast time of 25.88, from Melissa Eagles on Calypso Causeway and Michelle Mason on Gerry Munsons consistent D’arcys Lady Annabella.
Michelle and D’arcys Lady Annabella then went onto win the East Point Construction 1.15m qualifier in fine style, with Leesa and Tammys Girl in second and Sophie Delamothe riding her own Cassius coming third.
The second day started with Michaela Huntingdon dominating the Blackmore Tea Rooms 90cm qualifier with a win on Andrea Pearmans stallion Drumhowan Cavalier and second on her own Zerro II, Elise Ryan on John Ryans Soldier Boy was third with Lorraine Lock fourth on Wilson. Prizes were again kindly provided by Crown Corner.
The Allmac Haulage 1m qualifier was won by Hannah Dakers on Tezza Engelfields veteran campaigner Yabba Dabba Doo with Michaela and Drumhowan Cavalier. Second, Brooke Roberts Morgan on her own Mercuri third, and Ella Seddon fourth on Romulos III. The winner received a lesson with Laura Renwick and prizes donated by Julie Claridge and John Tyrrell of BigTimeMedia.
Richard Reeve-Young was successful in the Eastminster School of Riding 1.05m open on Sydney narrowly beating Sharon Symons on Temple Hardy a recent purchase from Michael Wade. Nicky Bailey –Gibson came in third with Umberto III and Millie McDougall riding her own Pierrot finished fourth.
In the Lynda Matthews 1.10m qualifier Leesa Long dominated the class with a win on Cor Van Ter Heide and second on Tammys Girl. Tangible Asset was third ridden by Sarah Wilson and Samantha Smith fourth with Wanna Score.
The final class of 2010 was again won by Leesa on the consistent Tammys Girl with Tommy Williams second on Guy William’s Idle Dice and D’arcys Lady Annabella third, and Sarah Mitchell on her own Up To Date III.
The final day saw Melissa Eagles topping off a very successful show, starting with a win in the Contract Trenching / Izzy Bradley 90cm Championship on Logan III, Jess Joslin second with Apache Discovery and Matthew Newall third on V-Lets Go, Holly Garrett rode Darcy VS into fourth.
Samantha Smith dominated the Sheridan Sport Horses / Jennings Betting 1m Championship with a first on Ema and second with Channa Z. Third was First Date owned by Ann Ackland and ridden by daughter Debbie Scott-Garrett and fourth was Julie Horton and Royle Walsh.
The ENS Recruitment / John Egmore 1.10m championship saw another win for Leesa Long with Tammys Girl, Michelle Mason chased for second with Melissa Eagles third on Calypso Causeway and Sarah Mitchell fourth on Up To Date III.
The big class of the show, the East Point Rug 1.15m championship was the icing on the cake for Melissa Eagles again riding Calypso Causeway to victory to claim the £250 first prize from Thomas Williams on Idle Dice II and Michelle Mason in third on D’arcys Lady Annabella.
Prize winners in these classes received rugs, bridles and saddle cloths provided by Pat & Harry of Norton Heath Saddlery , jackets donated by Premier Office Supplies, prizes Towers given by Tonie Finch, trophy and prizes supplied by Suzanne at ENS Recruitment, Champagne from Ray Everett and a handmade truffles from John Tyrrell of BigTimeMedia. All first prize winners received a photo from Gary Bowden of Sport In Pictures.
Everyone who competed thoroughly enjoyed themselves over the weekend.
