Cambridgeshire horse ‘For Sure’ attains Grade A status
Monday 09 January 2017
For Sure was bred by Mr & Mrs J Hunt from Epping, Essex out of their mare Esther Du Tilleul x For Pleasure. At only 15.1hh he didn’t grow big enough for their needs and so he was advertised for sale in Horse and Hound. Diane Ross bought the wayward 4 year old colt and with the help of Carol Mailer has produced him through all the highs and lows of showjumping to attain Grade A status. Along the way For Sure and Diane competed up-to 1.20m and jumped treble clear in their British Novice second round, Qualified Discovery 2nd rounds, Blue Chip Championships, Scope Finals, Amateur second rounds on 9 occasions and Amateur Finals on 2 occasions. They were the winner of the Cambridgeshire Leading Senior Rider and Horse combination in 2010. In the year 2012 a loss of performance by For Sure resulted in a diagnosis of kissing spine syndrome. Following surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation For Sure returned to competition with renewed enthusiasm all be it at a slightly lower level of competition but they still managed to jump double clear and be a prize winner at Hickstead RIHS and achieved 10th place in the Bronze league (East) ranking list. Diane’s showjumping ambition was to train a horse from zero winnings and ride/compete the horse herself all the way to Grade A winnings. For Sure turned into the horse of a life-time to enable that dream to come true.
