Blue Chip Winter Showjumping Championships
Tuesday 12 April 2011

Hartpury Collage in Gloucestershire once again played host to the Blue Chip Winter Showjumping Championships. The Friday evening gala night saw thirty top riders battle it out in the Blue Chip Grand Prix, with just four combinations making it though to the jump off it was a nailing biting finale to the class.
First to go in the jump off was sixteen year old Mark Turnbull from Fife in Scotland. Riding his mother’s (Mary) ten year old bay mare Ursula XII Mark jumped a quick round but with just one unfortunate fence down came home with four faults. Next in was Luton based Phillip Miller who in the end took the top prize jumping one of only two clears in the jump off on the outstanding grey gelding Caritiar Z owned by Di Cornish and Nigel Eccles. Following Phillip in to the ring was Hampshire based Peter Charles riding Olga White’s thirteen year old bay gelding Murka’s Rupert R. Peter also jumped clear but just a fraction behind Phillips time, going into second place. Last to go in the jump off was last years winner Buckingham based Helen Tredwell riding her own and Mark Robinson’s fifteen year old chestnut mare, Opportunity B. Jumping round in a super quick time Helen was unfortunate to just have the last two fences down which pushed her into fourth place behind Mark Turnbull.
