Last weekend saw Arena UK in Lincolnshire play host to a number of qualifiers, one of them being the Welcome to Yorkshire Amateur Qualifier which took place yesterday.
With over 70 riders all competing for the 3 qualifying places that were on offer only 30 made it through to the jump off. Course Designer Di Boddy built a fantastic jump off course testing both the horse and riders ability to think fast and jump carefully which proved too much for some.
It was 17 year old Stephanie Gunn from Nottingham that came out on top managing to fight off the rest of the field. Stephanie partnered Heather Gunn’s 14 year old bay gelding Avatarr II who jumped double clear in a time of 36.13 seconds, which was over 2 seconds faster than second placed Kerry Brennan.
The Welcome to Yorkshire Amateur Qualifier, qualifies for the final which will take place at the Yorkshire International Showjumping Event, 22nd to 24th April 2011
