Junior academy report from Chelsea Skelton

The day started at 10:00 am, with a variety of different heights and lessons, it was a day that had something for everyone. Selina Cawkwell gave the lesson, which was then followed by a talk from Dani, the area representative. The lessons at most could be groups of 4; meaning that everyone got a fair share of the time.

 As the groups were quite small and separated into people jumping the same height as you; problems that you experienced yourself cropped up. You also got see the solution to something you more than likely have been struggling with yourself. You weren’t the only one having trouble with your pony, which made it easier to tell Selina the problems you had been having. In turn meaning you get better help and advice.

After the lesson, Dani talked to us in the groups we had been in. She told us all about the rules of competition and things like the notional prize money amounts. We learnt about things like what we could get eliminated for to how much each place in each class was worth on the scale of notional prize money. Everyone was really helpful and friendly and Ruth gave us all contact details so we could share any ideas we might have.

I enjoyed the whole day very much and would recommend that if your area is holding one of these junior academy days, to try and take part.
