British Riders Dominate the Grand Prix in Portugal.
 
 
British riders are still on top form in Portugal competing in the third week of the CSI 2* International Show in Vilamoura, picking up first to fifth place in the Grand Prix.
 
It was Essex based Laura Renwick riding Marian Renwick’s ten year old dark bay gelding Roller Coaster III that picked up her second win on this tour in the Grand Prix. Jumping a clear in the jump off in a time of 39.43 seconds she beat second placed Scott Smith by 0.82 seconds. Scott Smith from Doncaster was riding the eleven year old grey mare Campella owned by Judith Studd who also jumped clear coming home in 40.25 seconds. Third position went to Nantwich based Geoff Billington riding Patricia Fraser‘s ten year old bay gelding Uppercut II jumping clear in 40.49 seconds which followed on from his second and third place in last weeks Grand Prix. In fourth place was Keith Shore from Northwich riding Helen Ravenscroft’s twelve year old bay gelding Stranger, who jumped clear in a time of 42.28 seconds. Fifth place went to the final double clear who was Northampton based Sophie Fawcett riding David Rogers eleven year old black gelding Tuigje. The combination came home in 44.54seconds.
 
 
The other European Grand Prix results for British riders this weekend were:
 
Tracy Priest from Surrey came fifth on her own and Mrs P Priest’s eleven year old bay gelding Calle in Chantilly, France in the CSI 2* Grand prix.
 
Ben Maher from Hertfordshire picked up sixth place on his own and Quainton Stud’s nine year old black stallion Tripple X III in the Hermes Grand Prix at the Grand Palais CSI 5* in France.
