World Class Equine Pathway Appointment

Thursday 08 October 2015

Matthew Lanni, British Showjumping Pony Team Chef d’Equipe and member of the 2014 Elite Equestrian Coaching Apprenticeship Programme, has been appointed Manager of the World Class Programme’s Jumping Equine Pathway.

The World Class Equine Pathway looks to identify horses that have the potential to develop into medal winning horses; the World Class Programme works with and supports the riders and owners of these horses in order to help them maximise the horses’ potential.

He replaces Corinne Bracken, who leaves the Programme to move onto exciting new opportunities elsewhere. Over the years she has provided a great service to the Jumping Equine Pathway and we would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her hard work and dedication and wish her well for the future.

Matthew brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously competed for Great Britain at Nations Cup level, and has been involved with British Showjumping Young Horse Training Programmes for the past couple of years. This year saw Matthew lead the Pony team to team Gold at the European Championships in Malmo.

The Jumping Equine Pathway will continue in its current format for 2015, but from 2016 onwards the Pathway will be limited to horses aged 5-7 years and will, over time, develop the way horses are selected onto the Pathway.  World Class Jumping Performance Manager Di Lampard explained, “From 2016 we intend to select from Young Horse classes which will be identified and advertised, throughout the season.  We are hoping to give the Producers of these horses more continuity with the coaching support going forwards through both the training delivered and at shows.”

The Pathway will continue to be supported by coach Commandant John Ledingham, with the programme overseen by Di Lampard.
