Will Edwards at the FEI Children on Horses Final, Mexico

Friday 30 January 2015

14 year-old Will Edwards from Ellesmere, Shropshire has been competing at the FEI Children on Horses World Championships currently being held in Valle de Bravo (Mexico) 26-31st January 2015.

The draw allocating the horses to their riders took place took place Monday afternoon in which Will was allocated his ride Rolex a 18 year-old bay gelding. Will then got a chance to get to know his ride by competing  in a couple of warm up classes that took place Monday and Tuesday before the individual and team competitions  started Wednesday afternoon.

The first day of competition saw Will and Rolex pick up four faults towards the end of the course and yesterday saw them pick up another eight faults to add to their tally. Rolex, despite being a nice horse, has most certainly proved to be quiet challenging for Will; to say he  can be strong headed is probably quiet a fair description!

Will’s mother Amanda commented “Will is having a great time over in Mexico, he is really enjoying the experience and will most certainly have learnt a lot from him time at these championships.”
