‘Step up to Gold’ Applications now being accepted for 2015-2016

Applications are now being accepted for the second cohort for the ‘Step up to Gold’ Programme.

In conjunction with Sport England, the ‘Step up To Gold’ Programme helps develop riders planning on moving up from the Silver League to the 1.35/1.40m Gold League by the end of the year long programme.

 The programme will consist of:

  • National and regional training days with Matt Lanni and a regional coach.
  • Strength and Condition coaches working individually with riders to develop a training programme
  • Sport Science support including horse physio, saddle experts, veterinary talks, anti-doping talks and travelling abroad workshops.
  • Coach and organisational support at a national show abroad and an international show in the UK
  • Funding will cover training fees, sport science support, strength and condition coaches and some other associated costs such as entry fees and stabling.

There will be four training and selection days held in October (North, South, East and West), where those who fulfil the criteria are welcome to come along for the session shown on the invitation they will receive from us, once their application form has been confirmed. From these days two riders from each region will be selected to go forward for the 12 month training programme. Please note there will be a one-off fee of £35 to attend the initial training and selection day.

This is a great opportunity for members to gain the training and support needed to step up the levels.

Eligibility criteria:

If you have applied before you can apply again.

  • Aged 20-35
  • Not to be established at 1.40m+
  • A minimum criteria of results at 1.20/1.25m
  • Not to be currently involved in any other government funded training programme e.g. AASE
  • Not to have jumped on any Junior, Young Rider or Senior British teams.
  • Reside in England
  • Current British Showjumping member

All sport funding is limited, selected riders are very fortunate to be given it, therefore all riders must fully commit to the programme and endeavour to be present at all training and show dates otherwise they are denying this chance for someone else.

The National training dates for the programme are:

  • Tuesday 8th December 2015
  • Tuesday 1st March 2016
  • Friday 1st July 2016
