SPECIAL CELEBRATIONS AT ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW 2016

Tuesday 26 January 2016

From Wednesday 11 – Sunday 15 May 2016, the UK’s largest outdoor equestrian event, Royal Windsor Horse Show, will return to the breath-taking private grounds of Windsor Castle.

After last year’s roaring success, which saw record crowds flock to the five-day event to watch world-class competitions and phenomenal displays, the Show has further enhanced its status by becoming a 4* international jumping event.

Unique to the event this year are the celebrations for the Queen’s 90th Birthday which takes place on the last four evenings of the Horse Show. For those unable to get tickets for the special celebratory event, many of the global acts who will be performing for The Queen will also be at Royal Windsor Horse Show, these are likely to include The Oman Royal Cavalry, Chilean Huasos, New Zealand Army Band, South Australian Police Band, and The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, all of whom will be performing for the crowds during the day.

Royal Windsor is a highlight of the British equestrian calendar and marks the start to the busy summer show season. The prestigious show is set in the beautiful private grounds of Windsor Castle, the only time of year they are accessible to the public, and has been attended by HM The Queen, who is also Patron to Royal Windsor, every year since it began in 1943. HRH The Duke of Edinburgh is President of the Show and only recently retired from competing in the Land Rover Driving Grand Prix.

As well as being able to enjoy displays from the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebration, the jam-packed Horse Show will host international competitions in Show Jumping (CSI1* and CSI4*), Carriage Driving (Land Rover International Driving Grand Prix), Endurance (CEI2*) and National Dressage, plus over 120 showing classes. Other highlights include performances from The Shetland Pony Grand National, and the DAKS Pony Club Mounted Games. In addition, there will be a shopping village with over 220 shops selling all things from equestrian goods to homeware and much sought after fashion brands as well as other delights such as pop-up restaurants, bars, cafes and food stalls throughout the site.

Tickets for the Show are now on sale and once again, Royal Windsor Horse Show organisers are delighted to offer free admission to all visitors on the opening day of the show, dubbed as ‘Windsor Wednesday’ on 11 May, and offer tickets free of charge to children on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 May.
