SEIB Winter Novice Championship Qualifier at Bury Farm Equestrian Club

The second qualifier for the SEIB Winter Novice Championship 2015 took place yesterday at Bury Farm Equestrian Club in Slapton, Buckinghamshire and once again, the qualifier was popular with competitors and a total of one hundred and one combinations started out over the course.

With just two qualifying places available for the SEIB Winter Novice Championship, which will be held at the Longines Royal International Horse Show during 28th July – 2nd August 2015, each competitor was riding with the aim of delivering a double clear as they knew that would put them in with a chance of securing a coveted qualification spot.

After a solid first round of competition, the jump off proved to be competitive with twenty-one combinations making it through. Nine double clears were produced in total and the times were tight as there were just over two seconds separating all of those combinations with a double clear.

The fastest double clear of the class was delivered by 22 year-old James Emblen from Woking, Surrey on board Rosgan Divinity, a 10 year-old bay gelding owned by Emma Grant. The combination produced two immaculate rounds and made sure that they picked up the pace in the jump off, crossing the finish line in 33.43 seconds.

Georgia Lovett, aged 17 from Solihull, West Midlands, was narrowly beaten into second place on her own 6 year-old grey gelding, Qiamo Z. Two accurate and fast rounds from this combinations saw them secure their double clear in 33.45 seconds, just 0.02 seconds off the pace set by the winners.
