POYS Development Show to be piloted

Monday 24 November 2014

An initiative introduced and sponsored by the show organisers of POYS (Pony of the Year Show) is to be piloted next month with further support from British Showjumping.  The objective of the show is to assist the development of both rider and pony ahead of the forthcoming premier show season.

The POYS Development Show, which is scheduled for the 12-14th December at Addington Manor, will see courses built for 128cm – 148cm ponies with differing levels of technicality within them.  The unique offering at the show is that there will be British Showjumping UKCC Coaches present to assist, free of charge, with all aspects of competition from course-walks through to any performance related questions in the collecting ring or the arena.

This pilot scheme will be assessed afterwards with a view to more POYS Development Shows being run next year should it prove to be successful from both an event and competitor perspective.   It is hoped that by introducing younger riders and ponies to technical courses early on in the season,  where an excess of expertise is on hand, it will prepare them ahead of the premier season and instil confidence  knowing that they will have met some of the questions being asked of them beforehand.

We hope that this will inspire younger riders to progress through the ranks from novice to podium.  British Showjumping are further supporting the event by offering a complimentary Ticket to Ride for those that may not already be a member.  To apply please contact Anna Garside on 02476 698800.

The schedule is available here. Entries can be made directly via Addington Manor's website www.addingtonmanor.co.uk
