Morgan Kent Secures Victory in the Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Scottish Summer Extravaganza
Monday 18 July 2016
Taking on the talent of the fifty strong starting field at the Scottish Summer Extravaganza, Morgan Kent shone through to claim victory on board Dolores V. In doing so, Morgan has ensured her appearance at the Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show in October.
The ensuing battle saw many combinations full foul of the technical course, with only nine combinations producing a first round clear. This was then whittled down further, until just five proficient pairs were left to go head to head in the final jump off.
Morgan from Wetherby, West Yorkshire produced three consistently quick and clear rounds to claim the top spot. Riding her own 8 year-old bay mare, Dolores V, she posted a treble clear in 41.79 seconds.
Daniel Moseley from South Hykeham, Lincoln crept into second place after jumping the only other treble clear of the competition. Riding Jayne Hunt’s 7 year-old bay gelding, Monsoon Monday, Daniel’s careful approach ensured that he bagged a qualification place in 45.79 seconds.
The other three combinations in the jump-off narrowly missed out on a Championship place but will have another shot as they go through to the Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships, Stoneleigh, in August for another chance at qualifying for HOYS.
