Laura Mantel seals the win in the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Second Round at Wales and West Showground

Wales and West Showground in Monmouthshire played host to the second of the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Second Rounds on Monday and it was the on-form Laura Mantel who sealed the win.

With two direct qualifying tickets up for grabs for the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show in October all sixty-seven starting combinations had their eyes firmly set on a treble clear. Course designer Rafeal Suarez produced another challenging course whittling the field down to four combinations in the final round.

Hot off the back of claiming her Connolly’s RED MILLS Senior Newcomers Championship Final ticket on Sunday, Reading based Laura eased Muna VD Bisschop, a 7 year-old Belgian bred mare owned by Sally Jobson Scott, to victory with 8.23 seconds to spare. Ruby Fryer took the final qualifying ticket with her own Hallmark, a British bred 7 year-old whom Ruby has produced herself from a 4 year-old.

The top two combinations were the only two to jump treble clear and in doing so secured their place in the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Championship Final at Horse of the Year Show and take home the chance to compete in the Equitop Myoplast Senior Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.
