Laura Mantel heads the Winter Grand Prix at Hartpury University

Laura Mantel from Reading, Berkshire fought off fifty-six other challengers to head Sunday’s Winter Grand Prix at Hartpury University in Gloucestershire. Laura claimed the top spot on board Glory B V, an 11 year-old dark bay mare owned by Elizabeth Howes and she has had the ride on this mare for just over three years.

The initial starting field of fifty-seven was whittled down to twenty-three and this made for an exciting jump off as thirteen combinations went on to produce double clears. Over Krissy Spiller’s eight fence jump off track, it was Laura and Glory B V who triumphed after they produced their immaculate double clear in 34.53 seconds.

Harry Charles from Alton, Hampshire took second spot on Peter Charles’ Vivaldi du Dom, the 13 year-old chestnut gelding with whom he won European Young Rider Individual and Team Gold. This pair delivered their double clear in 35.51 seconds.

Third place was scooped by Emily Ward from Neston, Cheshire aboard Steven Barnes’ 11 year-old bay gelding Millionmind and they came through the finish line with a double clear in 35.78 seconds.
