KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Bridgend County Show
Tuesday 24 July 2012

Following a competitive year of qualifying, the tenth KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final held on Sunday 15th July 2012 at Bridgend County Show in Kenfig Hill, Bridgend attracted entries from over 20 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification.
The class saw riders gather from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Plevin British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
Of the 21 combinations that started in the Regional Final, four made it through to the final jump off after first having to produce two clear rounds during the earlier phases of the competition. All of the remaining combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final.
The class ended with no treble clears, but only one combination was able to produce a round with only four faults. It was 23-year-old Mark Edwards from Cowbridge South Glamorgan who eventually topped the leaderboard. Mark’s win came on board Martyn Edwards’ Tinkers Tale, a 16.2hh, six-year-old bay gelding. Mark and Tinkers Tale unfortunately had the second fence down, but the combination sped through the jump off course in a time of only 37.23 seconds to secure victory and their place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
