Georgia Mitchell Makes her Mark in Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round at the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre

Taking the Ian Stark Equestrian Centre in Selkirk by storm, Georgia Mitchell rode away with first place in the Dodson & Horrell 0.95m National Amateur Second Round and secured a spot in the coveted Championship Final.
Beginning the class were nineteen keen competitors and they were all in hot pursuit of one of the twelve qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will be held at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool between the 16th – 20th November.
As the only rider able to produce a double clear, Georgia from Johnstone, Renfrewshire rode her own 15 year-old bay mare, Caramel Chew Chew straight to the top of the leaderboard. Going for accuracy alongside speed, this pair crossed the finish line with their winning round in 32.87 seconds.
Jodie Cairns from Glasgow looked to be in contention for the win when she delivered the fastest first round on board Kim Cairns’ 5 year-old bay gelding Galileo. The pair posted a scorching jump off round in 29.90 seconds and they were unfortunate to have the penultimate fence down which left them carrying 4 faults for second place.
Taking home third place was Ryan Collins from Gorebridge, Midlothian on KEC Diamond Warrior, a 15 year-old grey gelding owned by Elaine Collins. This combination also lowered a pole and they finished in 31.00 seconds.
