EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round at Allerton Park

The second EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round took place in the sunshine this weekend (Sunday 27th May 2012) at Allerton Park in North Yorkshire.
The EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round was a key part of the weekend and the competition proved popular, with nearly 100 horse and rider combinations entering the class.
From the total entries, 90 riders and horses came from all over the country to start in the second round with the aim of qualifying for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final, which will be held at the Horse of the Year Show on Wednesday 3rd October 2012.
Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final and from the total number of starters, 19 combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off. Eight combinations achieved that vital treble clear needed to put them in with a chance of qualifying for the Championship Final.
The overall winner of this second round was 21-year-old Louise Saywell from Retford, Nottinghamshire and she won the class aboard her Michael Saywell’s Quantas II. Louise rode the fastest clear of the day to complete the eight fence jump off course in a time of 35.99 seconds, cementing her place in the Championship Final. Louise’s time gave her almost four seconds in hand over the second placed combination.
Second place and the second HOYS direct qualifying place went to 28-year-old Matthew Boddy from Crowle, South Humberside. Matthew rode Rachael Evison’s Zaronda II clear over the course in a time of 39.75 seconds.
Just missing out on the Horse of the Year Show qualifications were the combinations in third to eighth, who all produced impressive treble clears. All of these combinations secured thier opportunity to compete at the Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).

The Horse of the Year Show 2012 will take place from the 3rd – 7th October 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham.
The Victory Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
