Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre

The venue of Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Stubbington, Hampshire was the host for two of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds, held at the heights of 1.00m and 1.10m. The Second Rounds were held on Saturday 29th September 2012 and the eligible horse and rider combinations that competed in the class were all aiming to qualify for the Championships. 
 
Following a number of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer.
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round. 
Twenty combinations started out in this 1.00m National Amateur Second Round and all of the riders had a Championship Final place in mind. From these starting combinations, 12 made it through to the jump off and with the places in mind, riders wanted to achieve fast and clear round.
 
The winner’s spot was taken by 28-year-old Julia Barton from Didcot, Oxfordshire and she won the class on board Victory II, a 10-year-old black gelding owned by Jane Dexter. The combination rode a superb double clear and the combination produced a fast time of 35.72 seconds to secure the win and a Championship Final place.
 
In second place was 19-year-old Jessica Graham from Alresford, Hampshire. Jessica rode Showbiz II, a 19-year-old bay mare owned by Angela Graham. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 36.57 seconds and secured second place by nearly a whole second ahead of third. 
 
Third place was filled by Bonita Stapleton from Windsor, Berkshire and Bonita was on board White Bless, her own 13-year old bay mare. The combination produced their second clear in a time of 37.44 seconds to ensure that they secured a top three finish. 
 
A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.90cm National Amateur Championship Final.

8th Eloise Guy riding Zaniet – 0/0 – 43.98 seconds
9th Lucy Blain riding Golden Fitz – 0/0 – 51.22 seconds
10th Lucy Hart riding Okehurst Just Jacko – 0/4 – 34.80 seconds
11th Chloe Veal riding Manhattan V – 0/4 – 35.73 seconds
12th Kirsty Oliver riding Pauldary’s Little Miss Tiger – 0/4 – 39.65 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. 
This 1.15m National Amateur Second Round attracted 16 combinations and from these starters, eight combinations went through into the jump off and also the Championship Final. 
 
The winner of this second round went one better than her performance in the 1.00m National Amateur Second Round and this time, 19-year-old Jessica Graham from Alresford, Hampshire secured the win. Jessica again rode Showbiz II, a 19-year-old bay mare owned by Angela Graham and the pair achieved the fastest jump off, clearing the seven fence course in 31.41 seconds.
 
In second place and securing a Championship Final place was 18-year-old Darcey Rawlinson from Surrey. Darcey rode an accurate jump off round on board Polar Bear II, an 11-year-old grey gelding owned by Keith Tollick. The combination produced their second clear in 31.43 seconds.
 
Third place was filled by 17-year-old Chloe Veal from Hampshire and she achieved her qualification on board Manhattan V, a 17-year-old chestnut gelding owned by Melinda Veal. This combination achieved their double clear in a time of 34.23 seconds.
 
A further five riders also achieved their Championship Final qualification.

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
