Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round at Dean Valley

Twenty-seven combinations came forward for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Second Round held at Dean Valley in Stockport, Cheshire on Sunday 21st September 2014.    

Each of the starters was aiming to collect one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which will take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014. 

The jump off proved to be competitive as it was contested by the twenty combinations that initially produced a first round clear. Eight double clears were subsequently delivered.

The fastest double clear of this second round was delivered by 19 year-old Anya Brown from Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire who was on board Carlos VI, a 7 year-old bay gelding owned by Julie Brown. Drawn as the second combination to go in the jump off, they commanded an early lead after producing their immaculate jump off round in 30.83 seconds. 

Freya Scott, 17, from Oldham, Manchester took second place after delivering a double clear on Bellini II, a 6 year-old bay mare owned by Rebecca Scott. Their jump off round saw them cross the finish line in 32.76 seconds.

Third place went to 35 year-old Alex Dunning from Macclesfield, Cheshire on his own 14 year-old bay gelding Talon II. This combination secured their double clear in 32.92 seconds. 

An additional nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.05m National Amateur Championship Final.
